FBS1 Agony: ruled out! Brent Venable OU’s rumpled with 9 injury huddles including Deion Burks” as rivals Sarkisian Texas faces 3 woes ahead of fierce match fixture” here are the full injury sidelines in both teams….

NORMAN What was widely reported earlier in the day was validated by the Red River Rivalry availability report update on Thursday.

Oklahoma will be without wide receiver Deion Burks on Saturday when it takes on top-ranked Texas in the Cotton Bowl. Burks, who was listed as questionable on the week’s initial SEC-mandated availability report, was downgraded to out on Thursday’s report. Tight end Kade McIntyre, who was also listed as questionable on the week’s initial report, was also downgraded to out for the Texas game

Burks has been sidelined since the second half of the SEC opener against Tennessee with what Brent Venables described as a soft-tissue injury. The Purdue transfer is Oklahoma’s leading receiver this season, with 26 receptions for 201 yards and three touchdowns despite missing part of the Tennessee game and all of OU’s Week 5 win at Auburn

Burks’ status means Oklahoma will again be without its five best wide receivers as it heads into its Week 7 tilt with Texas. The 18th-ranked Sooners (4-1, 1-1 SEC) will face the top-ranked Longhorns (5-0, 1-0) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Cotton Bowl, with the game airing on ABC, in what will be the 120th installment of the Red River Rivalry.

Burks was one of nine Sooners to appear on Thursday’s availability report. The team previously ruled out seven played: wide receivers Nic Anderson (quad), Jayden Gibson (knee), Andrel Anthony (knee), Jalil Farooq (foot), defensive backs Kendel Dolby (ankle/leg) and Gentry Williams (shoulder), as well as offensive lineman Geirean Hatchett (bicep). McIntyre, who has appeared in three games and played 29 total snaps this season on offense and special teams, rounded out the crop of players who will miss this year’s Red River Rivalry.

On the Texas side, the only change to the Longhorns’ availability report was the removal of quarterback Quinn Ewers, who was listed as probable on the week’s initial report. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian announced earlier Thursday that Ewers will be available and is expected to start against Oklahoma.

An additional update will be provided Friday after 7 p.m., with a final pregame availability report posted no later than 90 minutes before kickoff Saturday, which means final status designations for those players should be made public by 1 p.m.

According to the SEC’s student-athlete availability reporting policy, “probable” means a player has a 75% or greater expectancy of playing; “questionable” means a player is uncertain or has a 50% chance of playing; “doubtful” means a player is unlikely to play or has a 25% chance of being available; while “out” means the player will not play that week due to either injury, illness, suspension, ineligibility or personal matter.

Availability reports do not include information on injuries or other additional context surrounding a player’s status. Teams are permitted to provide additional information at their own discretion via press release, social media post or coach’s comment, so long as the information is consistent with the player’s status on the availability report
