OFFICIAL: Rangers complete the paperwork of a sensension monster who has already arrived for medical…..

Rangers are now set to announce the arrival of Oscar Cortes on loan from Lens before the transfer deadline, according to Andy Newport.

After arriving and completing his Ibrox medical, the Colombian has signed the paperwork for his six-month contract, according to a tweet from the Daily Record writer on February 1.

He will join Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande as January recruits to Philippe Clement’s Light Blues squad which is looking to challenged for the SPFL title.

Newport wrote: “Oscar Cortes has signed the paperwork on his six month loan move from Lens to Rangers. 20-yr-old Colombian attacker arrived in Glasgow for his medical. Now just awaiting official announcement from the club.”

Just in time

It has gone virtually down to the wire but Clement is about to get another new attacking recruit to combat the extensive injury problems in the forward areas.

After just half a season in France the youngster is on the move again, in a deal which could become a permanent, long-term commitment to Rangers if he meets certain criteria.

Abdallah Sima’s return from the Africa Cup of Nations with a significant injury despite not playing a minute has left a gaping hole on the flank of the Gers side, which Cortes is expected to be tasked with helping to fill.

With just four substitute appearances in Ligue 1 under his belt since leaving Millonarios in his home country, scoring once, it will be a big opportunity for him to step into.

Fans will be hoping that the club stay active right up until the deadline in pursuit of a striker signing, although Clement and Nis Koppen haven’t given signs of being in the market for any panic deals.

In other Rangers news, one exit-linked attacker’s January window future has now been decided ahead of the deadline.
