Just now: Dennis Johnson’ the father of Kentucky new recruit” Jasper Johnson has finally publicly” gone real about his son first contract” with Kentucky wildcats” as a result” I’ll tell folks this but I won’t” he continues…

When Kentucky Wildcats guard Jasper Johnson, a 5-star prospect, was signed, the recruiting community took notice.

who once would have been a huge surprise because North Carolina and Alabama were both powerful teams who seemed to be closing in on the Cats. In the end, Kentucky prevailed despite though they weren’t Johnson’s top NIL donor.

His dad, Dennis Johnson, told Kentucky Sports Radio that, of the three programs that were finalists for his son, Kentucky didn’t offer him the most NIL money. For the Cats, that should be seen as a huge win as Johnson clearly has a desire to stay within the state.

I will say this, though: out of the three institutions we looked at, Kentucky didn’t have the highest NIL. I’ll tell folks this, but I won’t get into all of that. Jasper is a good basketball player, so my wife and I don’t have to be his slaves,” Johnson stated via KSR on this week’s Sources Say Podcast.

Johnson plays for Overtime Elite and is currently ranked by 247 Sports as the 14th-best player in the class of 2025 and the third-best shooting guard.

He has offers from almost every top program, but in the end, he chose to stay at home and will play for Big Blue Nation next season.

The Cats have done well at retaining in-state talent, and that’s only going to be increasingly important for Pope and his coaching staff.
