BBN UK LIVE: there he is! Mark pope hint at the return of Kentucky fans special” long time missed injury prone” as his return date revealed in press statement” this dude is going to capture the heart and soul of BBN” pope continues…..

It won’t be long until Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats return to competition as fall approaches. One player who might see limited action at first is guard Collin Chandler, a rookie.

In an interview with KSR on Thursday, Pope stated that Chandler is recuperating from an injury he sustained during summer practice. But not every news is negative.

After serving a two-year Mormon mission, Chandler had a difficult start, but was now beginning to make an impression, according to Pope.

He kind of got into full action and had a little setback,” said Pope. “He’s almost fully back. It was super fun because, in Week 6 of our eight-week summer, all of a sudden, he was dunking on guys, and everyone’s like, ‘Whoa. Where did this cat come from?’ Because we had an on-ramp that is so slow.”

Pope later added that Chandler has progressed enough in his recovery that he could return to practice next week. The UK head coach also believes the Big Blue Nation is going to fall in love with Chandler.

But this dude is going to capture the heart and soul of BBN, and it’s going to be incredibly special,” he said.

Kentucky getting anything from Chandler this season would be a major bonus. While he was a highly-touted top-50 recruit in the class of 2022, that two-year layoff from major basketball was always going to cause a slow start to his college career. It was no secret during the early portion of summer basketball practice that Chandler was a little behind everyone.

However, it sounds like he was ending the summer session on a high note before the injury, which couldn’t have been too significant if he’s already close to fully practicing again.
