randon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans is not being considered by the Golden State Warriors, despite the fact that they could use another star. According to Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area, the Warriors are looking to acquire a star, but only one who can help them get back into the race. They don’t think Ingram is qualified for it.
The Warriors are no longer prepared to risk their financial stability, part with a ton of draft picks, or disturb their lineup in order to accommodate players who don’t garner enough support. “Among those who, according to sources, do not meet that threshold is Brandon Ingram, to name one. Poole said in an August 4 report, “There are so many pros and cons that there is very little possibility of him coming to Golden State.
Ingram was the second choice in the 2016 NBA Draft and was named to the All-Star team in 2020. In addition, he will begin the last year of a $153 million, five-year contract. Ingram, however, has only made two trips to the postseason. He is known for being prone to injuries and has never won a postseason series. With the exception of his debut campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers, Ingram has participated in 64 games at the highest and 45 games at the lowest point in a season.
Former NBA Champion Gives Brandon Ingram High Fives One person who recognizes Ingram’s worth is former NBA champion Nick Young. Young backed his former teammate amid the commotion surrounding Ingram’s trade to New Orleans.
Young wrote on his X account, “The NBA is crazy, they want to trade (Ingram), pay and keep all they defenders..stop gatekeeping buckets.”
Ingram and Young were Lakers players in the 2016–17 campaign. The season after, Young joined the Warriors and won his only NBA championship. Young obviously thinks highly of his former teammate, even if they were teammates for just one season.
Ingram has averaged over 20 points a game for multiple consecutive seasons. He may not have much of a place with the Pelicans because they have enough scoring and two-way wings on the roster without him.
The Warriors lack a second-in-command scorer, but Ingram’s red flags are strong enough that they don’t want him.

Even if Ingram doesn’t join the Warriors, he may want to leave New Orleans. On August 30, Ingram posted a video segment insinuating he doesn’t feel like the Pelicans value him.
Currently, the Warriors won’t be Ingram’s next team. However, that could change as the 2024-25 season progresses and they fail to acquire another star. Golden State is trying to salvage what is left of the Stephen Curry era. Ingram’s red flags should not be ignored, but the Warriors may not have better options from now until next season.
The Warriors tried to acquire Paul George and Lauri Markkanen but couldn’t get a deal for either of them. They have clearly signaled that they want more star power. Better players could become available via trade in the near future, but that’s not a guarantee. Ingram could be available from now until the NBA Trade Deadline.
