BREAKING NOW: West ham United has reportedly jumped” into another great alternative signature” after £16m bid Palmeiras Colombia hot talent was rejected” could get him cheaper…

West Ham is currently interested in signing Tammy Abraham after making a number of impressive acquisitions this summer. James Ward-Prowse, who joined from Southampton just a year ago, is also rumored to be making an unexpected move out of east London.

As TBR Football has learned, West Ham is interested in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. As a result, Julen Lopetegui may recruit one or two more players to his roster in an attempt to bolster it as much as possible for the upcoming campaign. Yet West Ham appears to have already made one unsuccessful attempt to sign a suspected target. On June 8, 2024, in Landover, Maryland, Richard Rios #6 of Colombia celebrates a goal during the Colombia vs. USMNT game at Commanders Field.

West Ham have £16m bid rejected for Palmeiras star Richard Rios

Journalist Pipe Sierra claims that Palmeiras turned down a $22 million (£16 million) proposal from West Ham for Colombian international Richard Rios, and the Brazilian powerhouses aren’t willing to let go of the 24-year-old midfield player this summer.

Sierra wrote: “Palmeiras rejected $22m (£16m) from West Ham for Richard Rios (24). The Brazilian team said they did not want to negotiate his departure For now, there is no further progress from the London team.”

Lauded by Goal as a ‘colossal’ midfielder, Rios was one of the breakout stars at this summer’s Copa America as the Palmeiras dynamo played a key role in Colombia’s unlikely run to the final, where they eventually lost to Argentina.

Yet with West Ham already signing one top prospect from Palmeiras this summer in Luis Guilherme, it makes sense why the Sao Paulo side is reluctant to let another player in Rios leave for east London, especially for a fee as low as £18m.

West Ham could do with one more signing this summer

West Ham have arguably had the most exciting window out of any team in the Premier League this summer, with the Irons backing Lopetegui to the hill and back and making some really impressive moves in the process.

And with three days of the window left to go, West Ham could benefit from one more signing ahead of what could be an exciting season for the Hammers and their new-look squad.

Indeed, Rios would have been quite a coup given how good the 24-year-old was at this summer’s Copa America, yet with that deal already dead in the water, West Ham must look elsewhere for that final season before the window closes on Friday.

Alan Shearer blown away by ‘shrewd signing’ West Ham have made

West Ham United picked up their first Premier League win season at the weekend.

The Hammers, who lost 2-1 to Aston Villa in their league opener, bounced back with a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Tomas Soucek opened the scoring on 67 minutes, slamming home through a crowd of players after good work from Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jarrod Bowen.

West Ham then doubled their lead just five minutes later as Bowen latched on to Max Kilman’s pinpoint ball and side-stepped his market before slotting home.

The Hammers’ victory ensured that they had representation in Alan Shearer’s latest Premier League Team of the Week.

Alan Shearer hails West Ham newcomer Max Kilman

Shearer named Kilman in his selection as part of an all-London back line. Indeed, seven players who ply their trade in the capital made the cut.

Produced a dominant performance in the heart of West Ham’s defence,” Shearer wrote on the Premier League website. “Could prove to be a shrewd signing.”

Kilman was the only West Ham player to make the cut in Shearer’s XI from match-week two.

Shearer’s selection also consisted of three Tottenham players, two from Chelsea, two from Brighton, and one apiece from Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City.

What Troy Deeney has said about Max Kilman

Shearer is not the only pundit to hail Kilman after West Ham’s win at Palace.

The £40million summer signing also made Troy Deeney’s Premier League Team of the Week on BBC Sport.

“He was a monster for West Ham,” wrote the former Watford man. “They were under a lot of pressure.

“He was like a young Rio [Ferdinand] the way he stepped out and played the ball that sent Jarrod Bowen away to score

What next for West Ham?

West Ham are next in action on Wednesday 28 August as they host Bournemouth in the second round of the League Cup.

The Hammers then host reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in a 5:30pm league kick-off on Saturday 31 August.
