Arsenal exclusive: Brutal double key exit gathers pace” as duo ‘expect’ to leave following Calafiori transfer…
TEAMtalk has learned that two Arsenal defenders plan to depart the team this summer due to Riccardo Calafiori’s impending arrival. Mikel Arteta is eager to bolster his squad in all areas after his team came just short of winning the Premier League title the previous year.
Given that Arsenal has a respectable depth of defense in their squad, it makes sense that the club is looking to offload some players this summer. DON’T MISS – Riccardo Calafiori next: Ranking every player Arsenal has signed from Serie A from worst to best TEAMtalk sources have been informed that both Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko expect to leave the club this summer.
The club has already signed David Raya permanently after a successful loan spell, and a deal for Calafiori is expected to be finalized in the coming days.
Tierney, who is under contract at Arsenal until 2026, told reporters, “There is every chance.” “Look at the squad depth in that position now. They have Zinchenko, Timber, Tomiyasu, Kiwior. Four players can play there. So if I go back and it’s the same as before then I’m not silly, I know the chances are I’ll be leaving.” Tierney spent last season on loan with Real Sociedad, and it has been clear for quite some time that his future is not at Arsenal.
But with football, you never know. that’s not often to see someone who played for four years, left, and then returned to play again, but with [William] Saliba, that happened after a few successful seasons [out on loan].
Stranger things have happened. I’m ready for both the possibility of returning and the fact that I have a place there.
Along with Tierney, Zinchenko is expected to depart the team this summer. The Ukraine international joined Arsenal in 2022 and has played 68 games for the team in the last two seasons. Bayern Munich was reportedly interested in signing Zinchenko earlier this year, but they are now more concerned with securing Alphonso Davies’ future.
It’s worth noting that the full-back for Arsenal recently changed agencies, which has only fueled rumors about Zinchenko’s departure.
Zinchenko, like Tierney, has a deal with the team that runs through 2026. Even though he might still play a part in the team in the future, if a qualified buyer is found, an exit seems quite likely at this point. The left-back was originally acquired by Arsenal for about £32 million from Manchester City, and the Gunners are aiming to make a little profit on his sale this summer.
They are reportedly seeking a price of €45 million (£38.5 million) for the Ukrainian international, according to reports from earlier this year, albeit they have not yet received an offer.
