Ridiculously damaged: professional snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan officially faces his worst nightmare after terrible display in Shanghai master semis….

After defeating Ronnie O’Sullivan in the Shanghai Masters semifinal, Judd Trump said, “I felt comfortable and I knew that I’d lost quite a few times in a row to him.” Gaining one back and demonstrating my ability to play a little bit was wonderful.”; The final on Sunday will pit Trump against Shaun Murphy.

Ronnie O’Sullivan’s eight-year undefeated run at the Shanghai Masters came to a dramatic halt on Saturday when he was thrashed 10-3 by Judd Trump in the semi-finals.

O’Sullivan came into the contest on a 21-game winning streak in the tournament and seeking a fifth consecutive title, but never got going in the afternoon as Trump romped to an 8-1 lead.

In a completely dominating session, Trump—who has yet to win a Shanghai Masters title—enjoyed breaks of 106, 128 and 127.

In the evening, O’Sullivan came out swinging, winning the opening frame with a clearance of 71 and then capitalizing on a costly mistake from Trump to make the score 8-3. However, Trump answered with breaks of 110 and 67 to win over O’Sullivan for the first time since 2020.

It was announced during the break that O’Sullivan’s former coach and mentor, Ray Reardon, had passed away. The 91-year-old six-time world champion had been battling cancer.

“It’s obviously not a record you want to have where he fancies his chances every time he plays you. So it was nice to get one back and show I could still play a little bit.”
