Five college football teams under pressure to play well in 2024 were highlighted by PFF’s Mitch Kaiser on Friday. This season, a lot of programs need to perform well. In college football throughout the 1990s, successful teams included the Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers, and Nebraska Cornhuskers.
The Miami Hurricanes, another team on Kaiser’s list, were also quite successful at that time. Cam Ward, a former quarterback for the Washington State Cougars, might be very beneficial to Miami.
“The Hurricanes have had setbacks lately, including two straight losing conference records, but there’s a sense that the 2024 squad is different. The sky may be the limit for this offense with the arrival of standout quarterback Cam Ward. Xavier Restrepo (89.0 PFF receiving grade) is perhaps the best slot receiver in college football.” stated Kaiser.
Miami has had its best season in Mario Cristobal’s leadership. In2023, Cristobal led the Hurricanes to a bowl game and concluded the season with a 7-6 record. It may be a significant step in the right direction if Cristobal can make the next move and contend for an ACC championship.
