What A Tragidy: Serhou Guirassy has just made a sudden U-turn” after recent announcement…
The efforts of Borussia Dortmund to sign every player on the VfB Stuttgart roster are going well. According to Fabrizio Romano, BVB has reached an agreement with Serhou Guirassy, the standout striker for Die Roten, and will now activate his release clause. The Romano seal of approval has been applied to the agreement, which is not yet official but usually indicates that the club will shortly acknowledge it.
Guirassy’s €17.5m release clause is incredibly low for a player of his quality, so in isolation, this move seems a bit of a no-brainer for Borussia Dortmund. The French-born Guinean international notched 28 goals and three assists, averaging 1.1 npG + A/90, to help fire Stuttgart to an unlikely 2nd place in the Bundesliga ahead of Bayern Munich this season. At 28 years old, Guirassy should hopefully be able to put up similar numbers in a BVB jersey for at least a couple of seasons. If you are given the opportunity to add a player like that for less than €20m, you should go ahead and do it. It looks like that is precisely what Borussia Dortmund have done! Welcome to Dortmund, Serhou!
