Hull Kingston Rovers (Hull KR) have recently welcomed back two former players who have transitioned into coaching roles, underscoring the club’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a strong rugby league community.

James Webster Returns as Specialist Half-Back Coach

James Webster, a former Hull KR half-back, has rejoined the club in a coaching capacity. After a distinguished playing career, including a notable tenure with Hull KR, Webster has taken on the role of specialist half-back coach within the club’s academy.

His primary responsibility is to mentor and develop the next generation of half-backs, imparting his extensive experience to young players. Webster expressed enthusiasm about his return, stating, “I’m really happy to come down… I’ve really enjoyed it.”

Brett Delaney Joins Castleford Tigers as Assistant Coach

Brett Delaney, another former Hull KR player, has transitioned into a coaching role with the Castleford Tigers. Delaney, who previously served as a forwards coach at Hull KR, has been appointed as the assistant head coach at Castleford Tigers. In this capacity, he will focus on defensive coaching and structures, bringing his playing experience and coaching expertise to the team.

Delaney’s move to Castleford reunites him with former Leeds Rhinos teammate and current Castleford head coach, Danny McGuire.
