Spurs reveal their City Edition outfits for 2024–25…
The Silver & Black’s design nevertheless has a nod to vintage San Antonio. The Spurs have revealed their new City Edition outfits for the 2024–25 campaign following numerous leaks. This year’s uniforms, which carry over from last year’s HemisFair motif, have a crystal blue base with the San Antonio wordmark across the chest. The Tower of Americas logo, which honors the city’s famous downtown monument, is highlighted in the pattern down each side of the shorts.
In honor of the 1970s and the city’s development and change after the 1968 Hemisfair World Fair, the San Antonio Spurs announced their 2024–2025 NBA City Edition uniforms. The squad announced that, in keeping with last season, they are extending the Hemisfair origin myth by wearing a crystal blue shirt with 1970s-inspired motifs. These elements include a vintage emblem that honors the towering symbol of downtown San Antonio, a checkered pattern down each short that represents the Tower of Americas logo, and the wordmark “San Antonio” over the chest. Spurs Sports & Entertainment’s executive vice president of brand engagement, Becky Kimbro, stated that the team’s jersey is as distinctive as San Antonio’s, including aspects of the city’s past.
When they play the Utah Jazz on Thursday of next week, fans will have their first opportunity to witness them live. Along with the team’s announcement, Spurs player Victor Wembanyama garnered media attention following his first appearance in a short film announcing the league-wide introduction of the city-edition jerseys. As it moved through the names of other players on jerseys, including Spurs greats Manu Ginobili and George Gervin, who made appearances in the video, Wembanyama sits alone at a locker in the movie and delivers the main message: “This jersey isn’t mine, it’s yours, but is it cool if I borrow it for a while.
The Spurs sought to win another game against the struggling Washington Wizards after defeating Sacramento on Monday. The Spurs led by one at the end of the first quarter after leading by sixteen early on. At halftime, the score was 67-67, and the game was in a back-and-forth contest. But Victor Wembanyama was experiencing something unique. The Spurs dominated Washington 41-24 in the third quarter after he scored 24 points in the first half and made his career-high eighth three-pointer. The Spurs defeated the Wizards 139-130, although it became shaky toward the end of the fourth when Jordan Poole (who dropped 42 points) led Washington on a mini-run after Wemby hit the career-high 50-point milestone.
With a career-high 50 points, six rebounds, three blocks, two assists, a steal, and eight 3PM, Victor Wembanyama was just unstoppable. Wemby just doesn’t belong here. He has averaged 36 points per game and 12 rebounds per game since an unnamed NBA scout stated that he was not an offensive threat. He has also averaged shooting splits of 59% from the field, 54% from three-point range, 77% from the free throw line, and 75% true shooting. These highlights will show you that Wemby’s boundless range badge is at least gold. Wemby is also teaching Alex Sarr how to take charge and protect a 3PT threat.
With 17 points, three assists, two rebounds, a steal, and a block off the bench, Devin Vassell had a respectable game. With 25 minutes played, he is still acclimating to the rotation, and it is hoped that he can soon regain his starting position. He dumps it off to Zach Collins for the finish after drawing two defenders! Zach finished his game with five points, seven rebounds, and six assists, demonstrating his versatility.
Julian Champagnie finished with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal in a strong performance. Including this laser from the corner, he made three threes during the game.
