Sad tragedy: End of the line! Ipswich’s “outrageous” talent cannot be trusted to play for McKenna” despite big money move with so much trust of immediate impact” currently he’s the EPL worst player” here is Ipswich last 10 matches results with him…
Over the course of a few short years, Kieran McKenna has taken Ipswich Town from the bottom of League One to the top of the Premier League.
Even though they haven’t won yet, the Tractor Boys have gained five points in the top division, so they’ve done well so far.
Moreover, a few of the club’s summer signings have quickly established themselves as key players for McKenna and look like brilliant buys.
However, that cannot be said of all of them, including one who simply cannot be trusted to play for the first team again this season.
McKenna’s brilliant buys
So, before we get to the offending player in question, let’s look at a couple of the club’s more successful signings this season, starting with the best of the lot: Liam Delap.
In mid-July, the Tractor Boys agreed to pay Manchester City up to £20 million for the young striker. Although there was some enthusiasm about his potential, few would have predicted that he would perform as well for the Suffolk team as he has.
The Winchester-born striker has scored five goals in just 11 games, including a brace against Aston Villa. His outstanding play will surely be a major factor in the team’s success this season if they want to avoid relegation.
Sammie Szmodics is another player McKenna brought to Portman Road this summer. Although he hasn’t been able to fully duplicate the incredible form that saw him score 33 goals and dish out four assists in 48 games the previous season, he has occasionally displayed flashes of brilliance.
However, alongside some of their excellent to middling transfers, the club also made what is now looking like a poor decision to sign another vastly experienced star on loan, a star who might not play for the club again.
Ipswich’s transfer mistake
So, the player in question is Manchester City ace Kalvin Phillips, who put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal in mid-August.
