Historical LIVE: Lions QB Jared Goff On Pace To Set unbreakable’ NFL Record as he tends to hold onto his red hot’ current NFL form” here is his current doings…
After reaching the NFC Championship Game the previous season, the Detroit Lions came into the season with considerably elevated expectations. They had a 7-1 record after eight games. Their success has been largely attributed to quarterback Jared Goff’s play.
With the Lions, Goff has revived his career, and this season, he has continued to perform at an exceptionally high level. Even if his stats aren’t very impressive, he has passed for 1,840 yards and 14 touchdowns, which has continuously made it easier for Detroit’s offense to go up and down the field.
However, Goff’s completion percentage, which stands at 74.9 percent right now, is arguably the most remarkable statistic from his statline this season. Even though Goff has nine games left, he would set the record for the highest single-season completion percentage of any quarterback in NFL history if it were to hold true.
It would be noteworthy just to have a quarterback finish the season with a completion percentage above 70, considering that is only the case 21 times. But if Goff continues to play at this extraordinarily high level, it seems like he has his sights set on shattering the record.
Drew Brees, a former New Orleans Saints great, currently holds the record with a 74.4 completion percentage from the 2018 season. The following two positions on that list are also occupied by Brees, who completed 72 percent of his passes in 2017 and 74.3 percent of his passes in 2019.
Goff has stepped up his game, completing more than 80 percent of his throws in four of his previous five games. If he can continue, he has a genuine chance to surpass Brees’ record. When Goff plays against the Houston Texans in Week 10, he will have an opportunity to keep increasing his completion %.
