During Week 10 of the 2024 college football season, a number of quarterbacks performed well in well-known games. Indiana’s Kurtis Rourke amassed 263 yards and four touchdowns in a victory over Michigan State, Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart tossed for 515 yards and six scores against Arkansas, and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel threw for 294 yards and a touchdown in a 38-17 victory over Michigan.
Athlon Sports will rank the top 25 college football quarterbacks every week. Additionally, the top 25 signal-callers vary in a number of ways following Week 10. Cam Ward of Miami is still ranked first, followed by Dillon Gabriel of Oregon at number two, Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss at number three, and Shedeur Sanders of Colorado at number four.
Preseason projections and performance during the first 10 weeks of the season are factored into our rankings. This ranking also takes into consideration the caliber or complexity of the competition (or particularly strong defenses).
Think of this as a power poll for the entire season that is updated weekly with new information and performances to assess. Although it’s not the only metric utilized, a quarterback can advance up this list with a solid one-week performance.
College Football’s Top 25 Quarterbacks After Week 10
1. Cam Ward, Miami
Last Week:Â 1
Ward helped Miami push Duke’s upset bid away in the second half with another big-time performance. The senior threw for 400 yards and five touchdowns and lifted the offense to an average of 7.3 yards per snap. Ward leads all FBS quarterbacks with 29 passing touchdowns and ranks third in passing yards a contest (349.6).
2. Dillon Gabriel, Oregon
Last Week:Â 2
A tough road environment against a solid Michigan defense didn’t slow Gabriel in Week 10. The senior completed 23 of 34 throws for 294 yards and a touchdown and added another rushing score on the ground to guide the Ducks to a 38-17 victory. Gabriel ranks first among FBS signal-callers in completion rate (74.8) and has connected on 10 passes for 40-plus yards.
3. Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss
Last Week:Â 4
Dart had a record-setting day in a 63-31 victory by Ole Miss at Arkansas. The senior set a school record for the most passing yards (515) and tied for touchdown passes (six) in a single game. For the season, Dart has passed for 3,210 yards and 21 touchdowns to only three interceptions.
4. Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders Last Week: 3 After taking Saturday off, Colorado will play Texas Tech in Week 11. Sanders leads the Big 12 signal-callers in completion rate (73.3 percent) and passing yards per game (323.9), ranking second.
5. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
Last Week:Â 5
LSU had an off date in Week 10 and returns to action on Saturday night against Alabama. Nussmeier enters the showdown against the Crimson Tide with 2,627 passing yards and 20 touchdowns to nine picks. Alabama’s secondary has struggled at times this year, giving Nussmeier a chance to move up this list next week.
6. Jalen Milroe, Alabama
Last Week:Â 7
Alabama had an off date in Week 10 and returns to action on Saturday night at LSU. Milroe has passed for 1,937 yards and 13 touchdowns and ran for 380 yards and 12 scores but was up-and-down in the Crimson Tide’s last few contests. Did the off week help Milroe get back on track at the right time?
7. Kurtis Rourke, Indiana
Last Week:Â 8
Rourke missed Indiana’s Oct. 26 game against Washington due to a thumb injury but delivered a strong performance in his return against Michigan State. In Saturday’s 47-10 victory, Rourke threw for 263 yards and four touchdowns on 19 completions.
8. Will Howard, Ohio State
Last Week:Â 9
Howard had a rocky start to Saturday’s win at Penn State by tossing an interception in the first quarter that was returned for a touchdown. However, outside of a fumble later in the half, Howard was steady the rest of the way. The senior threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns and added 24 yards on the ground against a standout Nittany Lions’ defense.
9. John Mateer, Washington State
Last Week:Â 11
Washington State had an off date in Week 10 and returns to action on Saturday against San Diego State. The Texas native is having a breakout first season as the starter for the Cougars, throwing for 2,153 yards and 18 touchdowns and adding 575 yards and 10 scores on the ground.
10. Cade Klubnik, Clemson
Last Week:Â 6
Clemson’s offense struggled in Saturday night’s 33-21 loss to Louisville, dropping Klubnik a few spots down the list after Week 10. The junior threw for 228 yards and a score and added 43 rushing yards. However, his yards per attempt (4.1) was the lowest mark of the ’24 season.
