NFL LIVE: Roethlisberger publicly” gets real about Russell Wilson’ Justin Fields Battle Regarding the quarterback rivalry Extremely Clear” as he favours one and downgraded the other with different ridiculous reasons…
Regarding the quarterback rivalry between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields of the Pittsburgh Steelers, almost every member of the NFL media with a microphone has expressed their opinion.
Ben Roethlisberger, a former signal caller for the Steelers, has now as well. In the most recent installment of his Footbahlin’ podcast, QB Matt Roethlisberger maintained that, in spite of Wilson’s condition, Fields ought to start for the Steelers in Week 3
He’s not mishandling the ball. They have a 2-0 lead. This week’s big test will be when the Chargers visit the city.
I’m sticking with Justin as long as Russ is healthy,” Roethlisberger said to co-host Spencer Te’o. “I wouldn’t, as I stated last week. However, based on what I observed [during Week 2], I believe he has merited and is entitled to remain there.”
In his first two starts with the Steelers, Fields hasn’t exactly blazed up the stat sheet. 136.5 throwing yards per game, 3.8 yards per rush, and 6.3 yards per pass are his averages. That’s all a low point in my career. However, Fields has set a career high by completing 69.8% of his passes. This season, he hasn’t turned the ball over either.
The Steelers named Wilson their starting quarterback after the preseason. Fields has started the first two games of the 2024 campaign, though, because Wilson is dealing with a calf injury. Wilson injured his calf while pushing a blocking sled during the opening week of training camp. He re-injured the calf preparing for Week 1.
The Steelers defeated the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos in Weeks 1 and 2, respectively. It’s the first time in Fields’ career that he has his team at least two games above .500.
