After signing a record-breaking contract with the Golden State Warriors, Steph Curry received a little extra in exchange: a new moniker. Curry and the Warriors reached a one-year, $62.6 million contract deal that will keep him under contract through the 2026–2027 campaign, according to a report published by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Thursday. According to Wojnarowski, Curry now has a $178 million guarantee for the remaining three years of his contract and is expected to become the first player in the league to make more than $60 million in a single season.
The Warriors took to social media after the news was announced to share some love for Curry and unveil a new nickname.
“Stephen Curry the greatest show in sports,” the team wrote in a post on X that showed off some of his highlights.
Curry has led the Warriors to four NBA titles and earned two league MVP awards. He will be 39 by the time the contract expires and has expressed a desire to finish out his career with the team that drafted him out of Davidson in 2009.
“I’ve always said I want to be a Warrior for life,” Curry told Andscape in July. “At this stage in my career, I feel like that’s possible.”
