NBA LIVE: Trae Young furious” warning about Being Called ‘The Next Stephen Curry” That (pressure) really all started in college” everyday i..

On his “Podcast P” program, Trae Young discussed with Paul George the similarities to Stephen Curry he saw during his collegiate basketball career. Young said he borrowed from other athletes and never saw all the similarities. Additionally, he praised Curry for being a mentor and always being there for him.

That (pressure) really all started in college. We played in the Phil Knight tournament had a really good showing and then we were on ESPN every day. I swear that’s all they were pushing – ‘The next Steph Curry’. I never paid too much attention to it. I never was like ‘Yeah, I’m about to be the next Steph’.”

I always felt like I took a little bit from everybody’s game. My favorite player was Steve Nash growing up. I’d take pieces from a lot of players. That’s why I feel like me and Steph, we have some similarities but there are some things about our games that are different…”

He [Curry] said something when I was in college too, that just made it even more (real). Middle of the Big 12, we’re like top five in the country, and he had said something like ‘He’s so electrifying every time you watch him’…”

Undoubtedly, I recall my initial experience on the trade block, which was immediately prior to a play-in game. He told me to maintain my focus in a text message. He’ll impart some wisdom and offer me guidance. He has always been supportive.

It’s encouraging to learn that Young was never intimidated or placed under undue pressure by the comparisons. He noted that it is not unexpected since the media is primarily responsible for the comparisons, but Young stuck to his game, and it has paid off for him.

What Does Trae Young’s Future Hold? At this point in his career, Trae Young is in an unusual situation. Their relationship with the Hawks seemed to have reached a standstill after a few fantastic years. They abandoned up on Young’s collaboration with Dejounte Murray, sending the latter to the Pelicans, and the days of Young carrying the Hawks to the Eastern Conference Finals on his own are long gone.

Young is coming off a decent season last year where he averaged 25.7 points, 10.8 assists, and 2.8 rebounds. He got selected to play his third All-Star game. But the Hawks missed the playoffs after losing to the Bulls in the play-in tournament. Their disappointing result paid off, as they were awarded the first overall pick of the 2024 draft.

Zaccharie Risacher was the first overall choice they made. The Hawks will be hoping that his combination with Trae Young will enable him to reach his maximum potential even though there are some concerns about him.

Young and Risacher together will be an extremely potent duo for the Hawks if Risacher can develop into the player the team hopes they can be. If they hope to seriously compete for an NBA championship in the future, they will then need to assemble a strong team around them.
