Worst Challenge: Master Ronnie O’Sullivan is officially set for another Historic colossal reward” only if he can crack a nightmare Nut at the Gate….

According to the World Snooker Tour, the first player to score 100 centuries in a season will receive a whooping £100,000 extra. Only two players have ever broken the century barrier, thus breaking it is not an easy feat, even though the game is as competitive as ever these days. Neil Robertson made headlines when he became the first player to score a whopping 100 centuries during the 2013–14 season. Judd Trump then did likewise in the 2019–20 season, scoring an incredible 102 runs.

As sharp as ever and coming off a victory at the Shanghai Masters, Trump is expected to be a strong candidate for the WST’s luxurious new cash award. But the veteran Ronnie O’Sullivan will also be vying for that century gold.

O’Sullivan’s personal best saw him pocket 74 centuries back in the 2017/18 season. But with big bucks on the line, it’s safe to say the 48-year-old will be up for the challenge

“We are delighted to introduce this new bonus as it creates an extra storyline which will run throughout the season,” said WST Chairman Steve Dawson, announcing the £100k prize fund. Every match will heighten the drama if a player is on course for the “century of centuries” leading up to the last few events!

Trump, who scored ten in the Shanghai Masters competition last week, is presently leading the pack in centuries this season. Shaun Murphy, with eight, is right behind him in second place, while O’Sullivan, with just one, is faring worse than both of them. Trump issued a warning to his rivals after defeating Shaun Murphy 11-5 in the championship match and declaring his intention to win at least five titles this season.

“Compared to the rest of the globe, the crowd in China is significantly younger. “I always relish performing in front of an audience where I can motivate the upcoming generation,” stated Trump. “I believe that explains my excellent performance in China. This season, I want to take home as many major titles as I can. Among the top five events on the schedule, this one is most likely. It’s an incredible start to win this one so early on. “I want to finish the season with at least five victories, just like I did the previous one. I’ve never had a better beginning.”
