BREAKING: Contract terminated” I’m leaving’ Toronto Blue Jays officially set to loose key player after recent saga….

Is Bassitt a potential mover? According to a number of sources, the Jays are concentrating on dealing players who are not guaranteed contracts for the upcoming campaign. However, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic believes that starter Chris Bassitt may be dealt before the July 30 deadline.

According to McGrath, Bassitt, who has a contract through the 2020–21 season, might bring in a respectable return for the Jays in what is thought to be a seller’s market. Although the veteran right-hander might strengthen a farm system in need of upper-level depth, particularly on the pitching side, McGrath notes that the organization is not under any obligation to deal him and that they are planning to compete again in 2025.

Bassitt signed a three-year, $63 million deal prior to last season and has been solid in 20 starts so far in 2024. The 35-year-old is 8-8 with a 3.71 ERA and 106 strikeouts in 114.0 innings pitched, though he does have a 1.42 WHIP, his highest since his rookie season in 2014.

Bassitt won an AL-best 16 games last season and recorded a 3.60 ERA in exactly 200 innings spread out over 33 starts

McGrath writes that Bassitt, who is under contract through next season, could fetch the Jays a decent return in what is perceived to be a seller’s market. McGrath adds the team is set on competing again in 2025 and does not feel pressure to move the veteran right-hander, though he could help bolster a farm system in need of upper-level depth, especially on the pitching side.

 Mariners looking for outfield help?

The Seattle Mariners will add a bat before the trade deadline, and possibly more than one, according to The Athletic’s Andy McCullough.

McCullough writes general manager Jerry Dipoto will be “aggressive” in pursuing upgrades, especially in the outfield.

Despite being tied with the Houston Astros for top spot in the AL West, the Mariners have scored the third-fewest runs in baseball (388).

Interest in Jays’ Garcia is growing ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports that Yimi Garcia, a reliever for the Toronto Blue Jays, is a “popular name among contenders”. The veteran right-hander is one of many Blue Jays projected to go by next week’s July 30 trade deadline. He is due to become a free agency following the season. Passan adds that the team’s main goal is to trade Trevor Richards, Danny Jansen, Justin Turner, and Yusei Kikuchi, who are all upcoming free agents.

Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who are both expected to become free agents following the 2025 season, are also unlikely to be traded, according to Passan. Garcia, 33, is pitching to a 2.48 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 29.0 innings worked, and he is having one of his greatest seasons to date. After signing with the Jays as a free agent in December 2021, he has played for the team for three seasons.

Alonso is no longer available First baseman Pete Alonso will probably not be made available by the New York Mets, according to Will Sammon of The Athletic. Alonso is expected to be a free agent this offseason, but the Mets lead the Pittsburgh Pirates by a half-game going into Tuesday’s play for the last NL wild card playoff spot (51-48). Even if the Mets falter in the final week before the deadline, Sammon continues, it is unlikely that they will reevaluate Alonso’s situation.
