July 20: SS Jacob Wilson’s left hamstring is scheduled for an MRI. Rated as Oakland’s top prospect, Wilson was not included in the starting lineup on Saturday due to a hamstring strain he suffered on Friday night during his Major League debut. The A’s will wait to see if the 22-year-old shortstop has to be placed on the disabled list until after his MRI, which is slated for this Sunday.
Esteury Ruiz’s 10-DAY/15-DAY INJURED LIST (left wrist strain) Anticipated return: None Ruiz was relieved of his rehab assignment after playing five rehab games in the Minor Leagues due to persistent discomfort in his injured left wrist. He is currently barred from any baseball activity until a wrist expert reevaluates him on July 22. (Updated as of July 20.)

R.H. Luis Medina (sprained right elbow) Return anticipated: TBD On July 13, two days after giving up six runs in five or more innings against the Red Sox, Medina was placed on the injured list.
Early in the game, he was only moving at 93 to 95 mph, but as the game went on, he was able to pick up speed and reach 100 mph. On July 13, manager Mark Kotsay stated that he anticipates Medina missing
substantial” amount of time, adding that the group will probably seek a second assessment during the All-Star break. After a right knee sprain that kept him on the disabled list at the beginning of the season, Medina finished with a 2-4 record and a 5.18 ERA in eight starts. (Updated as of July 13)
1B Tyler Soderstrom (left wrist stress reaction) Anticipated yield: With a left wrist injury sustained in late July or early August, Soderstrom was placed on the IL on July 11 (retroactive to July 10). Testing indicated a stress reaction rather than a fracture, which was the greatest news the club could have asked for, according to manager Mark Kotsay. Soderstrom is supposed to start strengthening activities and gradually increase after wearing a splint for seven to ten days. (Updated as of July 12)
RHP Dany Jiménez (left oblique strain) September is the anticipated return date. Jiménez’s MRI revealed a Grade 2 strain of his left oblique, therefore his placement on the IL is retroactive to June 20. However, he is anticipated to miss at least six to eight weeks of work.
