Steve Davis believes that Ronnie O’Sullivan and Mark Williams’ “weird” qualities will keep them at the top of snooker for a longer period of time than “normal human being” John Higgins.
Higgins is still only behind his former competitors, but the Class of 92 is still on a high note since they all entered the Crucible this year as top 16 seeds.

Although Higgins is still making waves in competition and is a familiar presence in the semi-finals, Davis believes he may be the first of the great trio to falter. The Wizard, however, might take his assessment positively. Higgins has not won a ranking title since 2021.
Davis stated on Stephen Hendry’s Cue Tips channel, “The reason that it could be John out of the three of them is that he’s the most normal human being.” “Mark Williams and Ronnie O’Sullivan are truly unique, eccentric individuals.” John has a more conventional competitor’s style and is less strange.

Hendry has concerns over Higgins’ mindset at the top level in recent times, feeling the four-time world champion is being too heavily affected by mistakes, whereas you really need to put them behind you immediately.

‘Sometimes this season he’s been scoring as highly as ever. He seems to be holding onto bad things longer than the other two. Williams never holds onto anything, which is his greatest strength.’
The three former champions are all yet to begin their Crucible campaigns this year, with Williams the first to get underway against Si Jiahui on Monday afternoon.
O’Sullivan and Higgins both start their games on Wednesday, with the Rocket facing Jackson Page and the Wizard taking on Jamie Jones.
