Breaking: Tinubu demands payment of the electricity bill for the Presidential Villa following public outcry…

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company’s outstanding electricity bill has to be settled immediately, per President Bola Tinubu’s directive.

The President’s directive is the result of the State House Management and AEDC reconciling their accounts.

The Chief of Staff to the President, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has assured that the debt will be paid to AEDC by the end of this week after resolving the issue to the satisfaction of all sides.

The Chief of Staff also advised other MDAs to pay their electricity bills and settle their accounts with AEDC, emulating the Presidency.

POLITICS NIGERIA notes that following the AEDC’s publication of the unfinished law in a national newspaper, the President was met with a great deal of criticism from Nigerians.

According to a letter from AEDC management to the State House Permanent Secretary dated February 14, 2024, the State House unpaid bill is N342, 352, 217.46, not the N923 million debt that the AEDC initially claimed in sponsored advertisements in newspapers.
