Just in: Raiders GM Tom Telesco Addressed Bad Salary Cap Management in raiders…

Henderson, NevadaUnder the direction of new general manager Tom Telesco, the Las Vegas Raiders are progressing, therefore the Silver and Black leader must examine numerous facets of the legendary Silver and Black franchise.

One thing that Telesco has to investigate before he does anything is the salary cap situation.

Telesco walks into a good situation that Dave Ziegler and Champ Kelly managed, and he has to assess the financial ramifications of cuts, signings, and much more.

It is an aspect of the current and modern NFL that many don’t realize is a monstrous part of the job.

Telesco addressed it and spoke about how the Las Vegas Raiders approached such a big situation off the field that had an immediate impact.

Appearingon Sunset Rewind, Telesco said, “There are just a lot of rules, which is why we have probably a four-person department dedicated strictly to cap and contracts. I work with them.

There’s a lot of manipulation of contracts to try to get under the salary cap and what your resources are.”

He continued to explain the intricacies of the modern NFL and the Raiders approach to salary cap management, “You talk about it in the NFL. It is all about asset allocation; we all have the same amount of money to spend and how you want to use it.

But there are a lot of creative ways that you can kind of work around it. The Raiders have a great staff of people that do it.”

Telesco then explained how the salary cap has changed since its inception, “It’s funny how it’s evolved over the years.

We used to have like nobody dedicated to that. Just the GM kind of handled that on his own, and it kind of got bigger and bigger and bigger, and now we have a staff of three or four that just handle that.”

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
